First clinical trials of the COVID-19 vaccine in humans

The first clinical trials in people of the new vaccine against the new coronavirus began in the United States this Monday. The vaccine will be tested in a group of 45 courageous volunteers at the Kaiser Permanent Organizing Center in the city of Seattle.
According to experts, it will take up to 18 months to know if this vaccine or others which are currently being developed work to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In addition, the Chinese Ministry of Defense assured on Tuesday the successful development of a coronavirus vaccine, carried out by the epidemiologist Chen Wei, of the Military Academy of Medical Research, under the Military Academy of Sciences.
According to Chen, the vaccine -developed in line with "international standards and local regulations" - is prepared to carry out a "large-scale, safe and effective production".

At VILA we applaud the courage of these volunteers and the enormous effort of the scientists working to find a cure for this new virus.
