OFFICIAL MEXICAN STANDARD NOM-011-TUR-200 AND REQUIREMENTS FOR TOURIST SERVICE ACTIVITIES
On December 14 (fourteen), 2021 (two thousand twenty-one), the Modification Project to the Official Mexican Standard NOM-011-TUR-2001 was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation. This standard aims to establish the specifications of security, information, operation, facilities and equipment, as well as the protection and respect for natural resources and cultural heritage for the development of activities carried out by the operators of adventure tourism / nature tourism services (hereinafter the OSTAN).
Said standard is mandatory within the national territory, in accordance with the General Tourism Act and its Regulations, the Quality Infrastructure Act and its Regulations, the Federal Consumer Protection Act and other applicable legal regulations, for the OSTANs that provide services tourism, who should consider security measures when providing their tourism services in order to provide and guarantee greater security to tourists.
Among the requirements that the OSTANs must meet, and in accordance with the Ministry of Tourism (ST by its spanish initials), are:
In federal, state and municipal areas, communal and communal properties, or protected natural areas, the OSTANs will have to inform the tourist of the activities to be carried out and without damaging and / or altering the natural and cultural heritage and monitor compliance.
