Mexican Official Norm NOM-051 the new frontal labelling of food and non-alcoholic beverages
Last Tuesday, March 27, Mexico joined the line of Latin American countries that seek to combat obesity rates and food diseases, through the publication of the Mexican Official Norm NOM-051 of frontal labelling of food and non-alcoholic beverages, in the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF).
This standard will enter into force on April 1st, 2021 and contains the rules for the implementation of a new model of “front labelling warning” for pre-packaged products, which seeks to reduce the consumption of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which, because of their components, are considered harmful to health.
